In order to evaluate the results of implementation of the “Integrated management plan for Cu Lao Cham Marine Protected Area (MPA) for the period of 2019 – 2023 and to build a Management Plan for the period of 2024 – 2028”, the Management Board of Cu Lao Cham MPA has organized a community consultation to get the locals opinions and feedbacks in implementing tasks for the period of 2019-2023 and draft goals for the period of 2024-2028 in the Management Plan of the Management Board Cu Lao Cham MPA.
The consultation was held for 2 days, from October 27st to 28st, 2023 with the participation of the locals of 3 villages in Tan Hiep commune, including the fishermens, women, youth, and representatives of homestays, restaurants, environmental protection group, land crabs harvesters, and others.
The consultation content focuses mainly on obtaining opinions and assessments of local communities on the current status of aquatic resources, biodiversity, forest and marine natural resources and the current status of exploitation aquatic resources management and tourism activities. Thereby, the community can share their concerns, thoughts, aspirations, as well as difficulties and obstacles in implementing livelihood activities.
By the consultation, many opinions, reflections, and suggestions from the community as well as business representatives were recorded. All the opinions and suggestions will be evaluated and drafted a management plan for the 2024-2028 period of the Management Board of Cu Lao Cham MPA.
The community consultation is an important step in shaping and building the period of 2024-2028 Management Plan for Cu Lao Cham MPA. This is also an opportunity for the local communities to express their opinions, contributions and suggestions as well as demonstrate their role in the upcoming goals of the Management Plan.
